The Sydney Harbour Bridge, opened in March 1932, was a spectacular event in Sydneyââ¬â¢s history1. It was one of the major engineering feats of the twentieth century, and is the largest though not the longest one-bow bridge in the world. The construction of the bridge was a remarkable accomplishment in the years of the Great Depression, using labour-intensive technology. The Bridge crosses from Dawesââ¬â¢ Point on the downtown side to Milsonsââ¬â¢ Point on the North Shore2.
